The Last Lunchbox At Wairarapa UCOL 2009

What a perfect day (weather wise) to be at Wairarapa for a BBQ! Warm and sunny all day, AS@U was there pumping out the free food for the students and it was all good.. there was even chocolate so I was happy :)

I made sure I did a bit of stencil work while I was there as well. I had the chalk spray out and this time had bigger and stronger stencils made so they will last longer (although I ran out of spray) so if you are at Wairarapa UCOL look out for my artistic goodness! (or check out a snapshot on our facebook page)

Anyway, I hope everyone has done well with their final exams and assignments and its time that everyone relaxed. Have a BBQ and a few drink, enjoy the nice weather while its around. If you want to see a few more snapshots from today CLICK HERE

Performing Arts Students Rehearsal UCOL 2009

I just went and checked out the rehearsals for the show the performing arts students are putting on in just a few weeks. The camera I used isn’t the best so the photos are all pretty poor quality (there are some good shots though). The students will be performing scenes from Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard on December 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 7.30pm in block 5 (the Buckman building) in Palmerston North and the tickets are only $5 at the door.

I have to say what I saw looked pretty good, I will be there to watch the rest on their opening night thats for sure. If you want to see some more snapshots click HERE and ignore some of the spots on the camera, I think there was dust on the lens or something.. either that or some ghosts hanging out in block 5? who knows, I got sick of photoshoping them all out so there are a few in some of the shots. Anyway, make sure you check out the show because it does look like its going to be pretty good!

BICT Poster Showcase UCOL 2009

Last night was the BICT students poster showcase for their final projects.  I went along to check out what was happening and there was quite a good turn out. Some of the projects looked pretty good, most of it was a bit over my head though (had to get some things explained once ot twice).

After 3 years of study I am sure the students are relieved that it’s all finished, judging by what I could see – I am sure they will all do pretty well in the industry. I took a couple of random photos; if you want to check them out HERE.

Frillseekers - Whanganui Fashion Show 2009

Last night was the fashion show in Whanganui, it blew my mind! even before it started I was impressed with how they had set it all up and the show itself just got better and better as the night went on. There will be more photos but I haven’t got them yet, I used a photographer this time (so I don’t make a mess like my last lot) however the picture above is taken from my phone, you may have seen it via facebook.

I wish I could remember some of the names of the fashion students but as per usual I am useless when it comes to that sort of stuff, the 3rd years were amazing though.. all of them were! My favorite one was the spitfire somethingarather, again.. don’t remember names, I have the program somewhere so might update it later on. Another cool one was where all the models were wearing these gray and black coats and at the end they took them off to reveal bright coloured dresses which were all pretty cool, I thought that was probably the most memorable one of all just because it was so different.

I’ll look at posting another blog when I get the photos back from the photographer, they will be epic i’m sure! and hopefully I will have some names of the students to go with them. Well done Whanganui students, it was primo!

Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging First and Second Year Exhibition 2010

Hello again :) last night I rocked up to the exhibition at UCOL’s block 2 in Palmerston North for all the first and second year BAVI, Diploma in photography and interior design students and it was pretty amazing! Last year when I was a second year BAVI student I can’t say we put that much effort in.. they put us to shame! the work displayed was pretty good and they even had a whole bunch of food (which they made themselves) so I was stoaked! (mainly because I hadn’t had dinner, free food is always good).

The room was packed as they gave out the awards, I would rattle off all the names and prizes but I can’t remember any of them and didn’t write it down.. I was serving drinks to thirsty guests instead :)
